In 1890 Cardinal Herbert Vaughan issued an inspiring call to prayer for the Conversion of England, detailing the history of this devotion from the Reformation to the ‘Second Spring’ St John Henry Newman so memorably described. This booklet re-edits that exhortation, and includes Cardinal Wiseman’s 1839 Daily Prayers for the Conversion of England in the original Latin and an updated English translation. In a new foreword, Mgr John Armitage bids us pray that a ‘Third Spring’ in the Church may bloom forth in the twenty-first century.
