The newest title in the internationally best-selling "YOUCAT" series for youth and young adults, this outstanding Bible features the creative elements of the best-selling YOUCAT youth catechism and the DOCAT social teaching handbook.

It's filled with engaging photos, clever and fun illustrations by YOUCAT's award-winning designer, insightful sidebar quotes from great thinkers, Catholic saints and leaders, past and present, and young people living their faith today. It includes helpful introductions to the books of the Bible and short, easy-to-understand commentaries by some of today's top Bible teachers. Plus, an index of biblical names, terms, and topics.

Based on the popular Revised Standard Version, Second Catholic Edition of the Ignatius Bible, the YOUCAT Bible carefully abridges the biblical text to help young people to follow the "story" of the Bible. It also includes a special preface by Pope Francis.

"You are holding something divine in your hands … A book through which God speaks."
-- Pope Francis, from the preface to the YOUCAT Bible

A superb book for high school classes, for regular faith-formation, for youth ministry and for young adult discussion.

I am thrilled that YouCat have brought out a Bible! I have been looking for a resource like this for a long time, as I wanted to read the Bible more but it can be quite overwhelming and complicated if you've never read it. I'm also the sort of person who wants to read books cover to cover, so the fact that this is abridged enables me to do that more easily, and the helpful introduction to each chapter of the Bible helps me to understand what's going on. The sidebar quotes from young people and saints help enormously too, and I particularly love the Bible timeline, the guide to reading the Bible, and the inspiring introduction from Pope Francis. It comes in beautiful hard cover with a ribbon to mark your place, so I'll be buying more as gifts for friends.

I was anxious to get my hands on this to try it in class (as I'll teach Confirmation this year). I love how it ties into and references other YouCat books. The pages are heavy (not like onion paper in most bibles) so it should hold up well for teenager use... the format is great (seems very friendly) BUT it's not a complete bible (not all the Psalms, chapters of certain authors are there, etc). I haven't gone back through to see if that will hinder our lessons, but I think I will still choose to use this bible for class / as a gift for Confirmation students (as I assume they have other "complete" bibles at home).

I love the YOUCAT, and when I heard that there was a YOUCAT Bible I was so excited because I have learned so much about the Catholic faith through the YOUCAT. I started reading the YOUCAT Bible as soon as I got it and loved it so much that I can't stop reading it since the YOUCAT Bible carefully abridges the biblical text to help young people to follow the "story" of the Bible. I look forward to using this Bible in the classroom for High School because it will engage them into reading the Word of God and discover the God's plan for their lives in the story of salvation history. The drawings, footnotes, saints, tips and testimonies are relevant to the youth of today that will captivate their attention and change their lives through Jesus Christ who is the Word made flesh.

A two-page guide on reading the Bible is an eye-catching way to begin this book. This 10-step guide is supplemented with a quote from Catholic philosopher Peter Kreeft. Throughout this study Bible, quotes from popes, saints theologians, and famous contemporary Catholics appear in the margin notes along with explanations of vocabulary and customs and references to other related Bible verses. Note that this is an abridged version of the Bible. I wish they'd release the full Bible in this format.
